It is a profound joy to welcome you to the official website of the Apostolic Vicariate of Meki. Whether you are a member of our faithful community, a partner in our mission, or a visitor seeking to know more about us, we extend a warm and heartfelt greeting.
Since its establishment, the Church in Meki has been on a remarkable journey of faith. From the pioneering work of the Consolata Missionaries to the enduring legacy of our first Bishop, Bishop Yohannes Woldegiorgis, our story is one of growth and grace. Today, we are a vibrant family of faith spanning six administrative zones, served by dedicated priests, religious, and lay leaders, all united in our mission to proclaim the Gospel.
As your Bishop, my heart is filled with hope when I see the dedication within our communities. We are a Church that prays together, serves together, and strives to be a beacon of hope in a world that often feels uncertain. We are present in your lives through our 16 parishes and missions, our schools and health facilities, and our commitment to fostering peace, justice, and integral human development.
Our mission, however, is ever-evolving. We face the pastoral challenges of strengthening family life, forming our future priests, and nurturing the faith of our youth. We also feel the call to respond to the socio-economic realities of our people; poverty, unemployment, and the need to care for our common home.
In the midst of these challenges, our faith remains our anchor and our source of strength. I am continually inspired by your resilience, your generosity, and your deep love for the Church. My vision is for us to continue this journey together, clergy, religious, and laity—as a truly synodal Church, walking side-by-side in communion, participation, and mission.
